Carter L. Paterson

Carter L. Paterson is a production coordinator, writer, and travel coordinator based in New York City. He has worked on projects for Marvel, NBC, and Hulu, and is a member of IATSE Local 161.

Carter joined the entertainment industry as an intern for both "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" and "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee"; his first on-camera appearances were as an uncredited extra in recorded segments for both shows.

He later served as a production assistant on NBCUniversal's "Lincoln Rhyme: The Hunt for the Bone Collector" and Hulu's "Wu-Tang: An American Saga," before joining "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" as a production secretary for seasons 23-24. Since 2022, he has worked as a Production Coordinator and Asst. Production Coordinator on Marvel's "Fantastic Four: First Steps," Chiwetel Ejiofor's Sundance debut "Rob Peace," and Stampede Ventures' "Space Cadet" and "Motor City."

Carter's original screenplay, "Matchbreaker," received "Second Rounder" laurels from the 2025 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition. His television pilot,"Pack Rats," was a semi-finalist for the 2021 Screencraft TV Pilot Script Contest. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the satirical blog, "The Near New York Times, and he served as writer and producer of the short film "Show & Tell," which intends to screen at festivals in 2026.

Carter graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis in 2019, with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Creative Writing (Poetry). He served as president of WUnderground, "WashU's premiere [only] satirical journal," and serves as the journal's permanent ambassador to the independent republic of Uzupis in Vilnius, Lithuania.

He is the son of playwright, producer, and stuntman David Paterson, and the grandson of author Katherine Paterson.
